Now That I am Caught Up

Now that I am all caught up on posts I can share the news I got today. It's not happy news and I am actually quite devastated, but Paris was career changed today. She was CC'd because she has Persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, which in plain English means she has blurred vision. The condition is not expected to be progressive. I feel horrible because I should have noticed there was something wrong. There are just no words for how disappointed I am, Paris was the perfect dog and would have made an excellent guide. I hate health cc's they are really the hardest. Since no other organization will take her with a vision impairment I have a very difficult decision to make. I just can't imagine her being anybody's pet but mine, but I just can't think of a way to make it work. What to do, what to do. . .

No! That is such sad news and she seemed like she had the greatest potential. I hope you can figure out a way to make it work to take her as your pet.

Oh man. That is so sad :( The medical cc'ds really are the most disappointing I think. Good luck making a decision on what to do. I'm sure you can guess what I would suggest, but clearly it has to be the right decision for you. No matter what, things always seem to work out the way they were meant to!

Oh no, I'm so sorry! That's really a big bummer :(

Whatever decision you make, I hope she finds a great home, whether with you or someone else.

I'm so sorry to hear about Paris. That's heartbreaking. And I know what a tough decision you have ahead of you. But you've been raising for a long time, and you know the ropes in either direction. It probably doesn't make the decision any easier, though.

OMG - what devastating news. I'm so so sorry to hear that. I hope you can find a way to keep her. Whatever you decide will be great.

Oh gosh! That's horrible...I suppose it was meant to happen though. She seemed like a very good dog from the way you explained her. Now this is just me, but I would keep her since she can't be a different service dog. I'm sure there's a way you can keep her close to you. Hey! This way you can always say she would have become a Guide Dog had she not had blurred vision. :)I hope you figue out what to do and I hope you don't stress too much. She'll be happy where ever she goes.

wow sorry to hear that! how do they test for that? what are the signs? Didn't even know that dogs could get that.
Her destiny was always to help someone, either as a service dog or as a loving companion.

good luck with your decision.

Oh no! I'm so sorry :( I don't really have any helpful words for you because I know you're in a hard situation but I know that whatever you choose she will be happy either way, she's a good and loving girl and will be loved wherever she goes.

:( I'm so sorry to hear about Paris. I think it makes it a little harder when you don't see it coming (like career changed for a health issue). You did an awesome job raising her and that's what matters! I have no advice, but know you will make a great one whatever you decide. :)

I am so sorry. It broke my heart to read this post. Paris is such a wonderful dog that I was certain she would make it as a guide. Poor girl! Good luck on the tough choice you now have to make.

Oh man, this is so sad. What are the reasons you don't think you could keep her as a pet? When do you have to tell GDB what you're gonna do? Ick. I hope you can keep her. Why can't you? Ok, I'll shut up, I know this is hard enough on you without me telling you to keep her. *hugs*

not cool, and not fair. I'm so sorry Megan.

Just so you know, I definitely googled "prescription doggles" after reading your post and they definitely exist. How cool will Paris look with doggles?
